I love this as much as the next guy, but this is MONTHS old. As in I clicked on it because I thought it had to be something new, as why would anyone post to something so old and well known.
Plan 9 from Outer Space also dealt with the death of its star, Bela Lugosi, who died suring filming, by having a body double stand in for him in many scenes in the movie (often half-covering his face with his cape, but not ever really looking like Lugosi). Ed Wood also spliced in previous home footage he had of Lugosi into the film.
My parents collect books and have a pre WWII set of Kipling Books decorated by swastikas on the spines. They have kept the quite valuable set, but the books always made me vaguely uncomfortable. Even though clearly not related to Nazism at all the symbol is so associated with such pure evil, it is hard to separate it. It is interesting how symbols can be hijacked and corrupted and how potent a force they can be. Interesting in Asia the swastika is still used frequently. Check out the wikipedia entry for some interesting modern usages.
I actually bought this for a friend a few years ago. Its great. Incidently on Talk Show with Spike Feresen, a show on Fox on Saturday nights, he uses these cups for himself and guests while he interviews them istead of the standard mug with the name of the show on it.
The Daily Show did a bit a few years ago where one of their correspondents interviewed people in the town and it included footage of the split street similar to the pics after the link.
Wow, haven't thought about this show in years. Used to watch it all the time, although some of the puppets scared me. Loved Plus and Minus though and their perpetual game of tag (they would tag each other over and over again, saying "Not it" I think).
