I have a friend that actually did this. He'd shower in the dorms or the gym for free. We were in the architecture department which was open at all hours, which is essential for this lifestyle.
Cats, no longer the heartless beast previously thought, communicated to humans with a distinct "meow". The humans discovered that this "meow" was nothing like that heard by food dishes. This could only have one explanation, there are missing kittens nearby. Not only does this fly in the face of modern scientific thought, but challenges mankind to acknowledge that a simple mammal has parental instincts, and advanced inter-species communication.
Another strange factor to think about is that people don't appreciate things that they don't spend as much money on. I've seen and heard this happen time and again. For example the worst clients I've had for architecture or construction have been the ones you give the best deals to. It's not across the board but most of the time the people that pay full price let you do your job and don't interfere. The same might happen with restaurants, you get more rifraf than usual.
