These things kind of make me wonder why they don't just turn places like that into cheap housing. I mean, which slightly hipster-ish (and let's face it, most of us in our early 20s are) college guy wouldn't want to live in a former monkey house or something? I know I would.

This reminds me of a book I read as a kid about a girl who finds a mysterious red banana and when she eats it is transported to fairy tale land where she meets the Brothers Grimm and has all kinds of adventures... kinda having a case of the nostalgia over here :P
