The thing is, being good at video games isn't a marketable skill. This kid might win some contests, or if he's lucky be hired as a professional game tester. But he'll likely have carpal tunnel by the time he's 20, and the article makes it sound like he's not exactly shooting for an MS in Computer Science.
Well, good for you for supporting deadly weapons in the hands of private citizens. But that doesn't change the law. If her finger had slipped on the trigger, she could have killed him, and been put in prison herself for murder. Since she's very elderly, the burglar could have taken the gun away from her and killed her with her own gun, and gotten away since she didn't immediately call the police. This lady did not do the right thing.
I agree with Leno that people will buy American if given the chance, but we're not getting the chance because of f**king insane, sky-high pricing. When you pair that with the indisputable fact that, yes, they do perform poorly and fall apart at the drop of a hat, of course Japanese and Korean makers are winning. Making better cars won't be that hard fr Detroit, but the only way they'll stop gouging customers is if the auto unions are banned.
I'm not familiar with Penn laws, but in a lot of places it's illegal to do that, even if you catch the burglar redhanded. It's considered wrongful imprisonment unless you're an officer of the law. At the least he can bring suit in a civil court for emotional duress, since she held him at gunpoint.
Looks like they took some styling cues from a manta ray. I'd be afraid to drive it anywhere because it doesn't look crash resistant, but it looks cool.
College administrators only want the drinking age lowered because if ever student on campus can legally drink, the school won't be sued when freshmen die of alcohol poisoning. This is just CYA.
As someone who has lived in the US, where you can drive before you can drink, and Europe, where people often start to drink before learning to drive, I think the answer is to separate the two completely. Give everyone in the US above 18 a choice: a license to drink, or a license to drive. No one should legally be able to do both.
Based on the info in the article, the police took the best course of action under the circumstances. Property was being destroyed, peace was being violated, and the groom tried to attack an outnumbered officer, then started fighting his wife. Without Tasers, the groom would have been shot, or had his bones broken with a baton.
