notice the mill stone in the background. usually this was in a mill in which was hooked to a mule or a horse that would walk around and around....crushing the juice out of the cane. this juice is then put in the large kettle and boiled...and cane syrup is made. yummy!

this is a kettle used to boil sugar cane for the production of cane syrup as seen alot in Louisiana, and still used today by many.

while it's a really cool idea, please be careful if you decide to do this yourself. there are very high voltages within an old monitor like that. EVEN WHILE UNPLUGGED. There are electronic components called electrolytic capacitors. They hold a charge even after the monitor is turned off and unplugged. so, be careful! you could get a shock up to several hundred volts.
