And, as an addendum to my last comment, even if you can't stand his music, you have to recognize his contribution in that he showed that rap without a shallow and violent message can be marketable to a mainstream audience. Maybe now the underground hip hop I love so much will get some exposure and decrease the stigma that surrounds the genre.

*eyeroll* I won't be holding my breath on that one though. Anyway, off my soap box and on topic it's a neat song.

Lame? I thought it was pretty cute.

It's nice to see something different on Neatorama every once in awhile.

I can't stand Kanye West as a person, but as a musician I think he has a few things going for him; or he had them before his arrogance got in the way.

My ninth grade bio teacher taught us about osmosis and diffusion, and as an example told us about a little trick her brothers had taught her:

You can explode a slug in a glass of water. All you have to do is dry it out with some salt first. After you drop it into the water, the cell membranes can't handle the sudden change from shriveled up to immersed. They try to absorb too much water and they burst. This can happen to humans too, in a different way. Football players who have been practicing in extremely hot conditions then may try and go chug like 4 gallons of water and occaisionally one or two dies of massive cell loss.

I've never tried doing that to a slug, so I technically can't say with certainty that it works, but I definitely remember that if nothing else from ninth grade bio. Also the time some kid wrote on his test that an advantage of sexual as opposed to asexual reproduction was that it was fun.

Oh, and in Zoology we had to watch a video about how a certain species of flatworm engages in "penis fencing" (that's actually what it's called, you can look it up) as a mating ritual. The loser gets penetrated and has to bear the eggs and therefore the burden of motherhood.

when I was in the 9th grade our bio teacher told us about health spas you could go to back in the 70's. People went, and at the beginning they were given a "protein shake." At the end they went home twenty pounds lighter.

Well, the protein shakes were actually laced with tapeworm eggs, which hatched and lived on you until the end of your time at the health spa, when you were given a dewormer disguised as a vitamin. The problem was that sometimes the dewormers didn't work and the spa was eventually busted, or something to that effect.

It's been a long time since I've heard that story and I'd be interested to know how much of it was true. I've never followed up on it.

I went to the "bad" school in my district and all of my teachers were excellent, I was tracked into AP courses, and I never had any problems from the kids who made my school a bad school. Overall my school gave me more flexibility in my courses and my after school activities than I could have gotten from our local private schools. In addition, I was never pressured into the drug scene like so many kids from private schools were. (Our school got probably 15 kids every year who had been kicked out of a private school for drug use.) In my area at least, the private schools host kids with too much time on their hands and an expendable income. So...let's not call the kettle black here. I could have done much worse than my public school
