I can't get past the statement "...65 eggs-more than five dozen-..." Really? Did the author think we wouldn't know how many five dozen is? However, I find it interesting that most record holders in eating contests seem to be the smaller people. I guess they actually train for the competition whereas fat people think they are already professional eaters. I sure wouldn't want to be the guy that ate those jalapeno peppers. At least not the next day.
Well felix I think the negative implications are that mankind isn't known for being completely alturistic and as such things like creation of a "master race" comes to mind. Eleminating disease and defects are great and worthy goals but who decides what defects are worthy of eleminating. It would seem simple enough except there was a time when things like being left handed was considered a defect. Physical traits in one part of the world may be wanted whereas in another part of the world those traits are scorned. Briannana was right. There are always positive and negative sides to most every issue and they aren't all driven by religious belief. You can have concerns about this type of science other than the "we're playing God" aspect of it.
Keeping cats locked inside your house, thus stifling their natural instinct to roam where they can kill and eat small birds and rodents only to be eaten by larger animals themselves is indeed cruel. Most everything humans do when interacting with animals could be construed as cruelty. Donkey basketball hardy fits the bill for cruelty. Maybe the donkeys like the interaction with humans. People really need to stop putting human emotions onto animals.
Hey if paddeling doesn't work we can move on to caning, then flogging, right through to beheading. Let's teach our young people to respect authority with violence. After all fear is a great motivator. May I also say that for all those that advocate spanking for kids they must also advocate similar physical punishment for adults. Run a stop sign and the cop that catches you can whack you with his nightstick. Seems fair to me.
When it comes to spanking most adults have it wrong. The goal should be discipline, which is a teaching tool to correct bad behavior, as opposed to punishment, which is a form of revenge. Most spanking is used as punishment. Also why do we consider countries that use caning as an adult punishment barbaric but spanking a child, even with a "switch" or belt OK? If you can't correct bad behavior any other way then the problem is yours.
You can't tell me in today's economy that you can't find qualified Americans to grade papers. That being said, if a teacher/professor can't grade the papers they assign, for whatever reason, should they be teaching in the first place? Pure and simple, it's part of their job. They get paid to teach and part of that job is to actually read and understand their student's papers so as to better understand their students. If you can't do what you were hired to do then maybe you should get another job.
I think the article hit the nail squarely on the head. Men don't talk about the things women feel are important. An example: A woman hears the news that someone's daughter had a baby. She wants to know every detail. How long was the labor? How big was the kid? What do they look like? What did they name it? etc. etc. A man hears the same news and probably doesn't ask any questions. My wife always gets upset when I don't have any details of something I'm told. I don't understand why people are upset when they are told men and women are different. Men and women are completely different in so many ways. That's just the nature of things.
My only comment is for everybody complaining this type of story doesn't belong on NEATORAMA. You read the title and yet you went ahead and read the story and then you took the time to comment on it. If you think a story might be disturbing for you to read you might just want to skip it.
Very interesting. It's hard to keep perspective while watching the game because of the all the players are fast but this really shows how fast they really are.
