@felixthecat, I guess the repercussions I'm talking about are people looking these jerks in the eye and telling them what jerks they are. People like this probably wouldn't be so quick to say the things they say if they had to face criticism from their peers. That and someone slapping them upside their head.
Ted said, "...it's sad to see how little respect some people have." Amen to that. The anonymity of the internet allows the average jerk to make snide and offensive comments without any repercussions.
As far as the death of Patrick Swayze goes, it's sad when anyone dies, but sadder still when they die relatively young and yes 57 is relatively young. I haven't heard any statistics as to smoking being linked to pancreatic cancer but alcoholism certainly is and Swayze admitted to having that particular battle in his life. Regardless, who among us doesn't have some vice, even if it's lack of excercise or eating right, that doctors tell us could shorten our lives? I say Mr. Swayze, you gave us some laughs, excitement and heartbreak through your skills as an actor. Thank you, and Rest In Peace.
There comes a time in marriage, I guess it actually comes with age, when sleep becomes just as important as intimacy. Because of different work schedules I go to bed much earlier than my wife. I like having a fan both to circulate the air and for the white noise effect, my wife hates it. I'm a light sleeper, nothing disturbs her. Even on the weekends, she's a real night owl and I'm an early to bed early to rise person. All this led to seperate bedrooms and now we both get the sleep we need. So yeah, I see what the articles author is saying. We have less stress now because we understand that not sleeping in the same bed has nothing to do with our love and devotion to one another.
Evolution requires more faith to believe than creation. I just can't get how a species is around for millions of years then bam!, it evolves into something entirely different. When was the last time that happened and to what?
The last two times I donated blood I passed out for no discernable reason so they asked me to stop trying. Passing out was no big deal to me but I guess it causes the blood bank some concerns. So my hat's off to Mr. Fischer and his achievement.
$100,000 is less than 15 panels or 168 feet X 12 feet. Not much of a roadway. Still the technology sounds promising. Not many innovations started out exactly how they end up.
The article may say 50 things being killed by the internet but some of those have nothing to do with the internet. They talk about punctuality in terms of texting and watches in terms of a cell phone. In both cases the internet isn't involved. However, I do agree that technology as a whole and specifically the internet are changing our lives. Specifically, newspapers and magazines are on the way out because the internet is instantaneous.
I live in California. Colt Seaver is exactly right. Our state legislature is running people out of the state because they can't cut back on their spending and keep increasing taxes. We have one of the highest tax rates for businesses and individuals in the country. Businesses are subjected to all kinds of bureaucratic red tape because of our left leaning environmentalist government. Our state workers took a hefty pay cut through furlough days. A lot of other workers throughout the state have had to take pay cuts in lieu of layoffs (I took an 8% hit myself). There are also a lot of people that took early retirement, those that are underemployed and those that can only find part time jobs. When a business can move to business friendly states they are doing so. The state of California needs to smarten up, starting with the voting public.
Being first isn't necessarily a good thing. As with most of these examples, first means you don't necessarily know what you're doing or what it will amount to in the future. Plus nobody really cares about the early internet, just where we are now. Oh and what was the first NEATORAMA story?

Beyond that, it's truly an awesome collection! He's single, right?
