Very cool to see! And those of us who have seen Gone with the Wind countless times know that Rand Brooks played Charles Hamilton--Melanie's brother, Scarlett's first husband. Discouraged by Hollywood, he left acting and made a nice success for himself owning an ambulance fleet.
Having visited Waterloo back in February, there are many proper tributes made to the 5 brothers all around the city. At the Sullivan Convention Center, a display includes a fascimile of the letter their father wrote to the Navy to confirm rumors about the Juneau he had been hearing, and to inquire about the welfare of his sons. Sobering, to say the very least.
I still have a few "Dynamite!" magazines from the 70s....good times....!!
And I teach middle school English and STILL get excited when the new catalogues arrive in my mailbox! The newsprint smell and my insatiable desire for a new book always accompanies them!
As a former supermarket cashier, I recall there was a woman who would come in with a huge amount of coupons...she used to annoy me, but after I realized that she was nice and this wasnt coming out of my paycheck, we established a nice repoire. I assume it was a hobby for her, but I was always curious about the quanities she bought (10 free trial size Advils?). To each his own.
There was a similar situation with Charles Joughin, a baker who survived the sinking of the Titanic in part because he figured he was going to die anyway, so he decided to have a nip or two to take the edge off and ended up surviving the 28 degree water.
Olivia de Havilland as Melanie Hamilton in Gone with the Wind. I need her sweet, gentle demeanor to keep me from running idiots off the road...but then again, would feel guilty when I ignored her suggestions and she would say, "How unkind....renavigating...."
I'm a little jealous of this girl since I only have a handful of photos of me as a baby/toddler--and probably just lucked out because I was the first son after 3 daughters. My siblings and I still muse about the progressive decline of photos taken from my oldest sister, who has literal volumes of pix, to my younger brother has only a smattering, sad to say, because surely my parents were too tired dealing with the other 4 of us to bother recording his life.
Yeah, I totally agree with Kanji. If they were attacking, wouldnt they be jumping on the car and whatnot? They mustve seen the Chuck Wagon go by and were wanting some kibble. lol
Ransom Riggs in a Genius!

And while we are at it, what about AIYH's close cousin "It Was All a Dream (or Was It?)"
