Hi Miss Cellania! Love your posts. From my understanding, brackish is kind of halfway between seawater and freshwater - - like in an estuary where fresh river water mixes with seawater. Often has a distinct ecosystem as most freshwater critters can't take the higher salinity and not saline enough for most marine life to live comfortably.
Umm... Unless I really missed something in geography class, I am pretty sure that the Baltic sea is NOT freshwater - - probably brackish and not as salty as the open ocean, but not fresh water - - unless we are talking about a different Baltic sea than the one we learned about...
Had an employee once who we questioned as to why he hadn't made it to ANY of his stops on his afternoon route (mind you, we knew exatly where he had been, as he had been seen at his favorite tavern drinking beer and playng pool - - with the company truck parked in the back parking lot no less!) and he insisted that he had had to take his son out of school at the school's insistence because he had hair lice and spent the afternoon getting him treated. The manager decided he wanted to see just how far this guy would go with his lies, and asked him to bring in some sort of documentation from the doctor or something. o the next day, this idiot shows up at the shop with his son (who he actually HAD kept out of school this day) - and he has actually taken the step of SHAVING HIS 8-YEAR-OLD SON'S HEAD to make his story sound better. For "documentation", he had brought a receipt from the local grocery store for anti-lice shampoo (that was time stamped for about 20 minutes before he showed up). At this point we all just laughed in his face and told him we knew damn well he had been at the tavern all afternoon and told the kid not to let his moron father suck him into his stupid lies anymore....
I had an interesting experience with the opening of Star Wars. My friends and I made the trip into Seattle (via ferry boat) and were intending to see a different movie altogether - - Star wars was not supposed to open until Friday, and it was only Wednesday, and we did not intend to go on opening night anyway as we had seen newspaper articles about the huge lines in other cities. When we walked up to the theater, we were surprised to see Star Wars on the marquee and asked about it at the ticket booth. They told us that they had decided to open two days early and we bought tickets and walked right in. The theater was not even very full. By Friday the lines were around the block and we unintentionally had become the envy of all of our nerd friends. Don't remember which theater - was on fifth near pike or pine street I think...
I have had deep-fried hard boiled eggs before. An excellent pub snack is a "scotch egg" and it is pretty decadent and probably not on your local medical center's "heart safe" diet plan, but is delicious. Of course, the hard boiled egg is wrapped in yummy pork sausage before it is breaded and deep fried (to make it even more delicious) but I would highly reccomend them if you have never tried one.
My personal favorite Marylin Monroe story is when, after a show (a USO show? not sure) she was gushing to her new husband, Joe Dimaggio about how wonderful it was, saying "All those thousands of people cheering and clapping just for me! You can't imagine what it was like! To which Joe responded, "Well... actually I can......"
I have never seen an all-metal one like that, but it looks like a shake hammer (or shingle hammer) - - the hatchet blade is for splitting or trimming the wood shakes to size, the hammer end is for nailing them, and the notch in the blade is for pulling nails. I have a very similar one that has a wood handle. Schrodinger's cat dead and/or alive mens XL
It is a high-tech beer bong from the future - - when seen in episode 19 of the original Star Trek series, Scotty referred to it as his "Romulan brandy disruptor" and used it to transport Romulan brandy directly into his bloodstream.
I just have to point out that that is NOT a clam. It is a cockle (very common in the Pacific Northwest - - never tried eating one, but I always heard they are edible).
Ha - - I grew up on Vashon Island - - I recognize that place. It is the old Dairy Queen. My strongest memory of that place was when a buddy of mine threw a chain around the large, free-standing DQ sign and yanked it over with his old chevy (during business hours) - can't remember why he did it, but he got into a fair amount of trouble...
A famous part of American history - - this is the "grille" that George Washington would attach to his false teeth (with wood screws) when he was hunting zombies and vampires. Schrodinger's cat dead and/or alive men's black XL
I simply do not understand how you could write this article without including Hymie the robot (I can't remember his "agent number", but I think he had one) who helped Agent 86 fight the forces of KAOS on "Get Smart".
