Does he actually live there? Aside from the sink full of dishes and a made bed there was nothing else to mark anyone living there. The shelves were empty, no clothes, no books, no pictures, no towels. I know the Japanese are known for minimalist furnishings, but this seems vacant.

Usually algae is also home for all sorts of creepy crawlies as well. I've met quite a few of them skimming a pond.
