What, no puppy? (sniff) Agree on the Lennon cd, but maybe they got a pile of them cheap. Certainly don't want to limit the music to only those who made it up there!
Abby who...real bullies rarely have any actual power, they just act like they do. Once Savage's earlier rants against Santorum ran their course, everyone (except a small handful of people who were never Santorum fans anyway) simply forgot about them. Now, to get back into the light, Savage threatens it again. I used to give Savge credit for his intellect, but not anymore. I think the bully thing was a cover for it, and right now see little power in his words or his intellect.
Change people minds by saying things they can digest, things that will cause them to stop and think. Give them a reason to agree with you. Threats to make a guy's name (and that of many other people) an inside joke among a small number of people are small minded and ultimately futile.
I am probably in the minority here, but doesn't this sort of thing get counterproductive after a while? We get it, he doesn't like Santorum, but at some point doesn't Savage have to allow Santorum the same right to speak as he himself gets? I used to read Savage, in the old days, but he just seems to have gone over the top on this stuff. These personal attacks just get old, and reinforce all the negative stereotypes. Bully? Yeah, but why? He won't change Santorum's mind, or the minds of those who agree with Santorum, so what is the point?
Well done. And notice how he never takes his feet off the floorboards...you see idiots on bikes all the time who keep putting their feet down like that will help. Good rider.
I liked the show, (maybe I was the lowbrow sort Parnell complained about), and being a white male I was certainly in the target audience. I am still not adverse to shows that have a target audience, as opposed to the shows where every episode is a miniature United Nations of diversity. Those are fine, too, and at least for the time being we are allowed to choose for ourselves what we want to watch.
What a great idea for a photography project...leave cameras around in vaious urban and other locations, running. Have some sort of tracking device so you can get it back, or have it send the pictures wirelessly. Make the camera too big to simply secrete in a pocket, and see what happens. You know the cameras will be picked up, and where people take them will be interesting (pawn shops, etc.) and what they try to do with them as well.
Practicing law in Chicago is like going for a swim in a cesspool. Judges let the lawyers get away with just about anything, as they simply don't care enough to do their jobs. They are rarely prepared, never read the pleadings or motions on a case, and just rule "seat of the pants." Lawyers there have the attitude that if they don't push the envelope, others will and beat them out of a buck. The saddest part of all this is that Chicago is far from the worst.
Surpsing number of IKEA execs read this blog...never seen so many defenses of long lines. I have not made it a practice to visit IKEA in every country I visit, so I ca't speak to that. I guess it is only the Chicago store and the ones that biker ray and dewey are familiar with have long checkouts. Hey, IKEA's business model is what works for IKEA. If you don't like it (and I don't) then don't shop there (again, I don't anymore).
If you have a girlie girl, or a tomboy or any other variety of girl (or boy), your chances of changing them to another type are nil. At best. Parents keep wanting to make their kids into something the kids are not: more masculine, less feminine, vice versa. It only succeeds in making them unhappy. Mothers (and fathers) who do this are only trying to live through their kids, and that is a losing propostion. You may get a lot of sympathy from like-minded women, but in the end your child will be alienated and resentful
Disagree? Of course you do. Put this note aside and re-read it in 20 years. Then write another book about how to reclaim your child.
Okay, so you pick up a bunch of oooooglas and inglings, a couple of snorks, and you head for the checkout, only to find it stretches across three time zones. So you set them down and walk out the door, without even buying the thing you went there for.
I think this is long overdue. Next, there's quite a bit of misogyny in Shakespeare's works that I would like to see cleared up. And then there's that Bible, and the Koran, and I saw a bunch of stuff in the Constitution that I don't care for as well...
