I guess when you breed with your siblings you become talented musicians with obvious reverence for a great classic song. VonSkippy, your cultural intolerance is almost amusing. I'd laugh but my choppers might fly out.

One of the most hidden difficulties of the foster care system is the fact that kids just "age out." I'm so glad that my family was still there for me after I turned 18. I can't imagine how scary it must be knowing that there is absolutely no one out there who will help you when you really need it. Adults need parents too. That's why it is so wrenching when they die. What these men have done is so ridiculously selfless. They saw someone struggling and reached out to help in the most fundamental way. I wish every foster kid was this lucky.

I think that broadcasting any signal without securing it with a password should be seen as making it publicly available. If it is password protected or scrambled it is not publicly available and using it without permission should be considered stealing and punishable by law. Why does it have to be so difficult?

@VonSkippy- I would say it's more like your fruit tree has branches that hang over into their yard. In most places, any fruit that falls on their side of the fence belongs to them. (And they have the right to trim back the branches if they choose.)If you broadcast a signal into someone else's domain or the public domain and you don't want people to use it you should protect it. If you don't want your neighbors to have your fruit you should plant the tree so it doesn't hang over their yard or cut back the branches (if you want to be really petty). Just password protect and we don't even have to discuss the issue because if someone hacks it...illegal.

In Boston we have what they call delayed green. This means that people who get a red as they are approaching know the others won't get a green for a few seconds so it is still okay to speed through. If the people getting the green knew the green was coming they would probably go early knowing they had a few seconds after the red. I guess the pedestrians would just have to wait for the dust to clear before proceeding.

So many people don't realize that much of what they think to be logical or even instinctual behavior is actually learned cultural behavior. It is what separates us and what makes the world such an interesting place.

Here's a guy who is going to school full time and working a part-time job, most likely in his field of study. Financial services not barista. It may be a little like working to pay the babysitter, but it's more like paying the babysitter to pad your resume. But he's only paying $36-84 per week. If it gives him more time to study and/or party then I can see why we would all be so jealous. I think the man is brilliant.

What a painful story all around. It's so easy to rush to judgement on something like this. Too many kids are being raised by indifferent, uncaring biological parents. Keeping a child just because it is yours is not a good reason. Keeping a child because you said you would is also not a good reason. This child is better off now. Would he have been better off if she had never taken him in? Probably. Attachment issues are not something everyone could handle and it is hard to know beforehand if you are on who can. It took a lot of strength to do the right thing. And even more to talk about it knowing the kneejerk reaction most people would have.

Training wheels only make it harder to learn how to ride a bike. If kids start on a "kick bike" they learn to balance naturally and can transition to a regular bike earlier and easier. You can make a kick bike by simply removing the pedals from a regular bike. When they are coasting with their feet up for a good percentage of the time they are ready for pedals.
