If you want to see the Trash People they are currently on display in the courtyard at the National Geographic Society headquarters on M St. and 17th St. NW in Washington, DC. But better hurry, they're leaving on Tuesday June 10. One of my co-workers at Nat Geo dislikes the term "Trash People" and calls them Metallic Americans instead. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/museum/exhibitions/trashPeople.html
Hmmm! That NASCAR blob is clearly a rip-off of the animated character Pom Pom, former best friend of Homestar Runner. But Pom Pom is from the Isle of Pom, and not a naturalized U.S. citizen, as far as I know, so I think using him to typify the average American citizen is inaccurate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pom_Pom_%28Homestar_Runner%29
