The interesting thing is, women had a place in the early church. It wasn't until later, in the dark ages, that women lost the ability to be actively involved in the church.
This is funny, but I do wish folks would give the rover the proper pronoun. NASA has made no bones that Curiosity is a "she" - if you watched the live stream from MSL during the landing, they repeatedly refered to the rover "She" and "Her". On the flip side, the "Twins", Spirit and Opportunity were "boys" and referred to as "He", "His", etc.
How odd - I could swear that MS-DOS and Win 3.1 had it printed on the disk that it was ok to make copies for "Archival Purposes" and a number of game manufacturers I know for a fact recommended that one make a copy to play with and to keep the original disk someplace safe...
I need one of these - the neighbor kids have been in and out of my garden like you wouldn't believe. Had a dragonfly LED stake walk off the other night. Little bastards...
@Playtrombone "Why did we do this? Because we didn’t have the money to buy that many records/cassettes/CDs in the first place. Believe me, we all just as soon would have gone out and bought originals of everything rather than listen to low-quality copies.
Was any of this illegal or immoral? Possibly."
Actually, back in the day, we had the legal right to make "Reasonable Copies" of our purchases - even into the beginning of the home PC age, one could make "backup" copies of software, movies and music.
THEY changed the rules on US, any then complain that we don't think it fair...
Well, to be fair, older PC's have a harder time running IE8, which is sort of a resource hog. Not everyone can afford to run out and buy the newest technology every year...
I am so tired of reality shows and shows like "Girls"/"Sex in the City"/"Mad Men". IMHO, they are retarded and boring.
Seems that is all the average American wants to watch though, and I think that has to say something about the average American.
Give me sophistication, like Moffats "Sherlock", or epic drama, like "Rome". If I cared about 20-30 somethings behaving like children, I just need to go out to the clubs in the evenings - I don't need umpteen TV shows about it...
@Ted I think the directors, producers and pretty much everyone involved had more to think about than a way to slip an insult to an Ex-POTUS in there, don't you?
And even if it was intended, how is this any more disrespectful than any SNL skit that has involved a president?
And I think it would be pretty stupid to edit a video so far after the fact (notice how long it took for anyone to realize it. If they (the producers) hadn't said anything about it in the video commentary, I really think no one would have ever even know that it *looked* like Bush). To think they should remove/change one scene shot that totals less than 2 seconds (you actually have to stop the DVD to be able to see the face, otherwise it goes by way too fast for the human eye to catch with all the other stuff happening in the shot), just because it *might* offend someone, seems sort of silly and childish to me..
Nah, Mike, I'm more concerned for your inability to comprehend what you've read.
"What happened was this: we use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush.
In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."
Any similarities to the Ex-President were unintentional - this is just another example of the media "running" with something before getting all the facts and People like you getting their panties in a bunch over an imagined slight to your All Mighty Bush...

Even Shatner calls it a "she"...

Too bad all the penguin is thinking about is how to get some hot doggie lovin'...
Penguins are pervy little birds.
