For 4 you cant just subtract 12 from 2 because it says a>b. therefore you have to do this:

2*sqrt(12)=2*sqrt(4)*sqrt(3)=2*2*sqrt(3)=4*sqrt(3)

now a = 4 and b=3
therefor 4-3=1
