OK, one more comment. Mulder's mom lived in Quonochauntog, RI. (KWAN-a-ka-taug to locals, or just plain kwanny) Another factoid that sticks with me because I'm almost a local!
Scully's dog was Queequeg, named after the harpooner in Moby Dick. Intersting though, Queequeg and Quohog, both odd sea-going names beginning with Q! (And on a pathetic note, that I remember the name of Scully's dog.)
These are easily recognizible as mandrophlepes. They're commonly used to extract copper from streams and riverbanks. With copper prices at an all time high, I need to git me some.
After reading "A Walk in the Woods" in 2000 my husband I and drove through Centralia. It is VERY creepy and the ground is hot to the touch. We saw several homes still standing but didn't stay long as the escaping steam and warning signs were enough to scare us off.
I'm 38 years old and can remember "Fifty Nifty United States" up to Ohiiiiiiiio! I typed those alphabetically in 2.5 minutes, but then struggled with the remaing states for another 6 min.
I found this article reassuring! I've been married 11 years and feel like I always choose crappy/lame gifts for my husband even though I really want to make them special.
