Thinking of how hot slides get in the summer, I'm not really sure I'd want to lie down on this sucker so much as use it to fry up some nice eggs ... As a piece of art it's pretty cool, but the fact that they actually seem to be trying to -sell- them as furniture is a wee bit disturbing!
*laugh* Woohoo, Lindsay, we'll have to start our own foot anti-fetish club! We may be few in number but heck, surely we can stamp out barefootedness and flip-flops with our own "properly-shod" feet :)
@Slapster - I dunno, I babysit a couple of kids who are 5 and 10, and "modern children" or not, they're still mighty impressed with much the same things I was impressed with when -I- was a kid - paper airplanes, Legos, cool little science tricks and what have you ... I think they'd both be quite impressed with this, too - the classics never fail!
I realize this is just my own little 'issue,' but - ugh - there's something about feet I find incredibly off-putting, I think I suffer from the opposite of a foot fetish ... horrible flapping knobbly things with their calluses and sweat and thick skin and toe-hair - UGHH! Again, I know it's just my little issue - I'm not saying 'feet are gross' so much as I'm saying '-I- find feet gross' - but man oh days, am I ever glad modern society encourages those things to be more or less concealed most of the time (and don't even get me STARTED on flip-flops ;))
Looks like the video's been removed from Youtube at this point. Though in reading the comments I think I'm kind of glad I missed it - I realize it's just meant for humorous purposes but seeing violent accidents always really -gets- to me no matter how staged they are, I'm a whuss when it comes to those things ...
As for the "EVAR" - strangely enough I still rather like it, it's obviously being used in a semi-mocking sense, not actually trying to be like the Valley Girls so much as appropriating their speech for humorous effect ... So yeah ... "EVAR," still funny; "humorous" injuries/death, not so much - that about sums it up for me!
Ha ha, and now that I've looked at their entire 'April Fools Day' page thanks to this link, I must say I would also buy that "Levitating Propeller Beanie" in a heartbeat ... Darn it, why must that which is awesome so often also be that which is imaginary??
It is kind of interesting to see how effectively we can all be led around by the nose just because some ad tells us to regard a product in one way or the other ... gee, I wonder if I can get some ad company to start shilling for -me-? Man, I'd be ten kinds of successful if only the Stacyj Man were out there telling everyone how awesome I am!
This commercial makes me so deliriously happy =) The world IS awesome, by god! I also love that someone over at metafilter took the time to transcribe the lyrics so we can all go around singing the whole thing to brighten the day of friends and strangers alike ... boom-de-yadda!
How delightful that there are so many fellow Venture Brother fans out there, that show cracks me up AND in some ways is far more interestingly subtle and clever than most AS shows. Not to mention, I absolutely LOVE Dr. Orpheus, life must be so much more fun when lived so "epically" =)
Though I must agree with Xopl that Adult Swim doesn't really need more marketing - delighted though I am to see an animation-oriented post there are so many non-AS cartoons out there that folks ought to hunt down, too! The (sadly underwatched, but still occasionally aired) Dave the Barbarian was hilarious in a goofy way, and of course there were things like Clone High (the Marilyn Manson clip still makes my universe sparkle) and The Tick ... and except for the mostly atrocious Season 5, Cartoon Network's Ed, Edd n Eddy is actually quite funny, especially if you remember what it was like to be one of the neighborhood dorks yourself growing up - check out the "From Here to Ed" or "Mirror Mirror on the Ed" if you've never seen the show before, they're delightfully quirky. Cartoons rule - more animation-based posts, please! =)
I agree with silversand and plainswalker75, this is a pretty cool idea and certainly doesn't need any more justification than "to make life more interesting" ... People -are- fascinating, both in their similarities and their differences, I would be utterly intrigued to see 1) whether or not anybody would play along in the first place, and 2) just what they would deem worth taking a picture -of- to send back to some stranger. Furthermore, from the postal employees' perspective, I bet it was pretty neat - I know -I'd- like it if someone unexpectedly showed a little interest in what I was doing, or if I got to play around with someone else's camera strings-free ...
Every time I think fish couldn't POSSIBLY get any more horrifying, along comes some new little tidbit of information I didn't need in my head ... the thought of fish producing sound somehow makes my brain want to squirm away and find someplace safe to hide. *laugh* Why isn't anybody DOING anything about this - they must be stopped!

Oh, never mind =P
