Immature, mean-spirited, laughing at people rather than with them. Love it. Can't wait for the new one.

Wow, aren't we all getting cynical. "Hoax" from me too though. Reminds me of the Ica stones:

Larry,
I don't blame you. Reading it back it sounds trite, elitist and patronising. Can't help how I feel though.

As a Brit, the results of this poll have restored my faith in America a little. I know Neatorama's readership is not exactly representative of the American electorate (I'm a regular for a start) but it still gives me hope. Not that it's got anything to do with me of course. :)

Agree with Cuimhne. Why do people get so up-in-arms about art which they either don't understand or, more likely simply don't like? It sounds like the Daily Mail in here. Do these people level the same volume of protest at Opera? Or the latest Eddie Murphy movie? Why not simply vote with your feet and not go to the gallery?
Mind you, I guess maybe the stark contrast between appreciation and vitriol displayed in peoples' reactions is what makes it great art. Maybe indifference is the contrast.
A friend of a friend used to keep a record of every girl he slept with by taking an imprint of their anuses. He used paper napkins and India ink and collated them in ring binders. He called it his collection of "miffy squeaks". Not sure whether he gathered their permission first or not. Maybe that distinction is where the art lies.

Of course, there was that story (on Faces of Death I believe) of the guy that bungee-jumped off his college roof, hit the floor in a messy heap and died.
The reason being that when they were working out how long the cord should be they failed to take into account the fact that the building had actually been built without a 13th floor; thus making the cord 10-13 feet too short. That's superstition biting you in the ass (as it makes it's way through your head).
Of courese, this story may well be apocryphal but maybe the pattern he should have recognised was college + bungee + alcohol = bad idea.

I watch very little TV these days and it is entirely down to the fact that despite having more channels to watch than ever these days in the UK there is less and less worth watching.
Seasons are too long (Lost), the jokes are few (House) and the adverts many (Anything we import from the States). Sometimes you only get to see the opening credits before someone's hawking something. Maybe I have been spoilt by the BBC in that regard.
Mind you, there is always Jeremy Kyle if you want to build up a sense of righteous anger.

*Love* the Coinstar machine! It's a great way to sneak frivolous purchases past my g/f. I'm hoping to cash my change in for a copy of The Force Unleashed in a couple of weeks.

Has a British person ever tried to make fun of you for not using the metric system? We'd be on pretty thin ice as we still measure distance in miles too.
Personally, I still use feet and inches most of the time too but that's mainly down to a (somewhat wasted) childhood playing Warhammer 40k. :)
