You are aware, aren't you, that "The Origin of Species" had no "cover art"? The concept of cover art didn't even exist at the time. What is being parodied here is a widely recognized, though grossly oversimplified, graphical representation of Darwin's theory. It has no direct connection to Darwin or to his book (though it might have shown up on some later 20th century editions of the book).
