It makes sense, since we basically avoided the housing market crash, and the majority of personal wealth is tied up in real estate. I gotta say though, even though we have more money per capita on average, I'm still jealous of the USA's insanely cheap booze, groceries and gas!
There is an all-you-can eat sushi place in Vancouver I love going to (Tan Po Po) and there is a warning on the menu that they can charge you for wasted food, but that seems to be only for gross wastage, not for just choosing to no eat something you didn't like.
My grandma (who is still alive) was one of the first women in the English army. She was a plane spotter for the anti-aircraft gunners. She is still kicking ass and taking names, and lives here in Canada near the rest of our family. If you want to take safety advice from cracked.com, then please, don't wear a helmet, you're already spoiling the gene pool. One thing will remain constant, if you fall, or get hit by a car, you will fare better if you are wearing a helmet. Yes, statistics say that we are inclined to do more dangerous things if we are wearing protection, but that doesn't mean that if you don't wear a helmet, you won't have an accident. You can be on either side of the statistics, (for better or worse) the problem is, you don't have a choice in the matter (because accidents are random, whether influenced by your actions to protect yourself or not). I have two friends that would be alive today if they were wearing helmets, so I think I'll keep mine on.
Here in Vancouver we have had life size fiber glass bears, killer whales and eagles. The are painted/costumed/decorated then auctioned off to local businesses for charity and displayed around the city.
Agreed, there were a few interesting quotes in there, but that was really all just a set up for a sales pitch for the authors book, blog and stock tips. Did I mention I have a blog? :P
