I totally agree with Reechard. I, as a kid, would have been the first in the line to try this stuff (and I also believe those were harmless doses of tier gas and low voltage tassering). Kids are explorers, they all want to know about this world as much as they can, just some, have their courage diminished by their parents.
ripper, look how fast she rejects everything that she gets so easily. Firstly, she barely eats any of the cake, though she wanted it. Then, she lets the kite fly away, as it would have gotten too boring to play with. The number three is always magical. So as she hadn't learned anything by her first two wishes, the third one is final. It shows how our selfishness and greed sucks us in and we lose everything.
