That article is so ridiculous. Being tall is not that big a deal. I can't believe people are that insecure with themselves (how can you be insecure at being 5 foot 6 in?), when there are people who have far bigger "problems" (like paralysis or deafness or blindness) who are completely able to cope and live happy lives? I think therapy would have been easier ... or just a swift kick in the pants.

"The tribespeople are likely to think the plane that took this photograph is a spirit or large bird"
Or it could actually be they know exactly what it is and they just want "civilization" to leave them the %*&# alone.

I'm surprised PETA hasn't freaked out about this claiming potential harmful side effects of paint on the shell ... or him just "interfering" with the snail's life to begin with.

The WorldWide Telescope has an option to view the Earth at night.
Unfortunately, they only have low resolution images. Hopefully that will be updated though, if WWT is [will be] everything they say it is.

Sometimes people need to just admit, there are some things they can't do. If he actually wins anything, you'll have to have a star by his name.
We don't allow performance enhancing drugs, why should they allow the potential of performance enhancing limbs? (I totally don't think they should have allowed those slicksuits on swimmers either, by the way).

Oooh, welcome to The Matrix.
Just what we need, an internet you can strap to your face. And you thought cell phones were annoying.

I love the spin on the article. Could it be that these laws were made for the protection of society? Like, oh, having liability for a large grease spill. That would impact the environment, you know. So, who's really protecting the environment? Seems like so many "green" answers have bad effects (eg corn fuel causing food prices to skyrocket). [sigh]

omg! What a major problem! And yet, billions of people still are able to walk! ... comfortably!
Is this that big of a deal? And what about all the evidence that low impact exercise is better for you?
"The skeletons had the healthiest feet." LOL, but they're still dead, Jim.

Wouldn't going through the other end be a lot less distance? Colonoscopies are pretty common and simple, you'd think they could adapt that for an appendectomy. Seems like you'd have a lot more chance of something going wrong in about 25 feet of "super twisty" small intestine compared to about 5 feet of large intestine with three "straightaways."

"Why are you doing this, Mommie?"
"Well, Honey, your Mommie can't accept who she is, and has given in to the popular belief that you have to look a certain way in order for people to like and/or accept you. Ultimately, she has given in to the idea that it's what's on the outside that counts. Even though several decades of women's rights has helped overcome this, Mommie is still swayed by popular opinion, and perpetuating the delusion that you can overcome a lack of personality with good looks."

Thor said: "But seriously, even if they screw up and we all die, it would happen so fast we probably wouldn´t notice."
But what is "so fast" on the edge of or past an event horizon? LOL.
Well, it could be like those who feared the first chain reaction reactor up in Chicago during WWII. But scientists at CERN have said the black holes are possible (even though the chance of them growing is relatively small, it's still possible). It's so funny how people complain we are destroying the planet with carbon emissions, but they don't mind the possibility of destroying it with black holes. Such inconsistant reasoning for those who claim to be so "scientific." Sure hope Stephen Hawkings is right that the black holes will harmlessly dissipate.

Next they'll copyright the letter "i" since it's in front of every darn thing they make now.

Wow, no matter what happens, if Apple ever makes anything with the word "big" in it, NYC should go after Apple.
I guess I just don't understand why companies are getting so stupid about their "copyrights" while they completely dash their company reputation.
And I don't think very many people would confuse the NYC logo with Apple computer's logo. NYC's doesn't even have a bite mark.
