To msirach: Yes, it does. I read the article Senor is talking about too. They are going to be counter productive. They drive so dangerously that WHEN they total their car it will be a bigger environmental burden than if they had just driven safely.

"But one thing is for sure: if the 1970s oil crises were any indications, high gas prices are here to stay."

I bought gas for $1.95/gal today and I was paying around $4.00/gal when this article was written. Guess one thing isn't "for sure."

People will try to market anything nowadays.

Of course it won't catch on since it will become annoying to ther wearer that everyone will be constantly telling them they have something hangning from their eyes.

Easy way to rip a contact out too (your own or someone elses).

Yeah, I've read all the posts too. Thankfully, I found this site a couple of years ago when it wasn't quite as big, so the archives were a bit smaller. Still, it took me awhile.
I have WAY too much time on my hands apparently.

In other news, San Francisco will also be installing vidscreens in all places.
Gawd, the boingboingers will probably have a cow when they see this!

Because people don't like being beaten over the head with bibles, or the environmentalists mantra of green.

The only reason companies go green is to make more "green."

I'd much rather live in a tornado area than someplace like the gulf coast with hurricanes, or California with it's fires and earthquakes.

You can much more easily get away from a tornado and it does less overall damage than hurricanes or earthquakes. Especially when "THE BIG ONE" hits.

If you thought New Orleans wasn't prepared for Katrina, just wait until they see how un-prepared they are for a big earthquake.

The federal reserve is already pumping money into the economy even if it doesn't get the 700 billion.

Plus we survived the internet bubble bursting around the same time as 9/11. There's too many safeguards now for the economy to collapse like in 1929. We might have a recession, but the economy will recover.

I think there's more panic than necessary. The media is going to blow everything out of proportion in an election year.

It's odd that a democrat majority house couldn't pass it assuming it's the republicans fault that it failed. Why did so many democrats (40% of them) also vote against it?

It tries to be funny, but the reality of it is so obvious, ie for first year college students, that the writer seems more oblivious than the product is funny.

I once got a call from a user that their fax machine was jamming. Finally, they got it to work once they STOPPED PUTTING THE ENTIRE LEGAL PAD through the machine!

Another one was a coworker who asked the user "Is your power out?" and the response was "How do I know?"

LV said "When you build the biggest, most complicated machine in the history of mankind there will be problems."

But these are supposed to be the smartest scientists in the world. No excuse. Of course, if they didn't get this little detail right, should we trust their math about black holes? LOL.

Darn. bob stole my joke.
