Larry Dubois's Comments

As Eddie mentioned, the "I buried Paul" line is perhaps the most popular "clue" to Paul being dead.

The following is from Beatles long time recording engineer Geoff Emerick's book "Here, There and Everywhere" which I highly recommend.

"I’m sorry to disappoint anyone who ever bought into this rubbish, but Paul was, in fact, very much alive and well, and there was never any kind of plan to fool the public by scattering clues about his supposed demise. John was actually saying “cranberry sauce,” not “I buried Paul,” for the simple reason that we were recording around the time of the Thanksgiving holiday, and just before the take, we had all been chatting about turkey and all the trimmings, and how Americans traditionally ate such a meal at that time of year."

Neil...I have the same problem. I can fall asleep but the minute I wake up at any time I'm usually awake for the night.

One thing I found that works quite well with keeping me asleep is if I take 4 Ibuprofen at bedtime. These tend to make my body relax and brings my body temperature up which pits me in a very deep tranquil sleep for the entire night. If I happen to awaken for any reason, I have no difficulty going back to sleep. In fact, it works so well that I don't take them on nights when I know I have to be up early because I've slept through the alarm several times.

Try it and let me know if it works the same. Easy and inexpensive fix if it does. Good luck.

Although Fred and Ethyl often fought on the show, Vance and Frawley did an excellent job of making it appear as though it was their characters only and that they were good friends off stage. Who knew??

So very true. You would think that watching it in the comfort of your own living room would lessen the fright factor but it did not. I can still remember holding my pee in until after the movie was over because the bathroom was upstairs...in the dark. No way, Jose'!!! I'd rather suffer.

It was really a very well made and for the most part scary movie for its time. I watched it as a kid back in the 60s when local television stations would run "scary" movies late on Saturday night. Scared the crap out of me....so much so it gave me the willies to go swimming in our local lake.

Great article Eddie. I watched this a few years ago on TCM. Really enjoyed it.

Although one can't help but wonder if the film would have been even better had Marty Feldman had played the lead.

By far the best Abbott and Costello movie of all time. It was refreshing as a kid to actually laugh at the same monsters that scared the crap out of me. I own the DVD and also have it on my VuDu account online. Best scene to me was early in the movie in the wax museum with Lugosi opening his coffin. CLASSIC!!

Agree 100% with the Andy Griffith jump. Very obvious after Don Knotts left that the show's quality took a tremendous blow.

I do though disagree with the Seinfeld jump. To me, the show's Jump the Shark moment came in 1996, two years before the finale when co-creator and executive producer Larry David made the decision to leave the show. David, to me anyway, was the reason why Seinfeld was such a hit. The show was actually based on his life. The character of George was based on Larry and if you've ever watched his HBO show "Curb Your Enthusiasm", although he is playing himself, he IS George Costanza. When he left, the characters looked somewhat lost and the magic seemed to disappear.
