I've never seen the film myself but my dad told me about seeing it before I was born. He said it wasn't as good as what he expected but it was good to see the Marx Brothers again. They will always be one of my favorite comedy teams along with The 3 Stooges and Martin & Lewis. I've often wondered if Groucho is at the Pearly Gates and not allowing people in unless they say the secret word....LOL! Nice story Eddie.

Great topic Eddie! There was a similar story in the movie Great Balls of Fire where Jerry Lee Lewis watches an African American woman (made to look a lot like Big Mama by the way) perform Whole Lot of Shakin' and decides to record it. I love your insights on Rock & Roll topics. Keep them coming!!

I still chuckle when I think that Ringo thought they didn't love him anymore and were going to replace him. I have the Melbourne concert on DVD which was as Eddie said, their first one with Ringo back at drums. That concert is my favorite one to watch. The guys played awesome and you could tell they were having a lot of fun and thrilled to have Ringo back. To this day, I truly believe that concert was when all four of them realized just how good they were together as a group and just how good their music was going to be from then on. Nice story Eddie!

What a sad ending to someone who made us laugh and laugh and laugh. Never knew that he was such a mean kid when he was a Lil Rascal. Those were some pretty mean tricks to play on the other kids. Thanks Eddie!

One more to add....a man we all know and love and MUST have the mustache or it's just not him....Howard McNear, better known as Floyd the Barber from the Andy Griffith Show. Great subject Eddie.

It was a sad ending for the world's greatest band. You can see sparks here and there but that Beatle magic was mostly gone. Really too bad too because when you think of the great music that each of them put out in their early solo careers, they could have kept on going. I would have loved to have heard Maybe I'm Amazed, My Sweet Lord, Photograph and Imagine all performed by the Fab Four.

Great piece Eddie. Harpo was a classic although the quick witted Groucho was always my favorite. Makes me wonder if Harpo was like his brother. Too bad he didn't speak enough in public to let us know.

Koufax was always one of my favorite players growing up. He always seemed to be in control of every game he pitched. You have to give him credit for standing up for what he believed in. Nice post Eddie. That was really good!

Back in the late 1970's, I was talking to my older brother Mike about this particular album. Mike is 10 years older than me and was a teenager during the 60's while I was 6 when this album was released. Anyway, Mike liked to brag to me since I was the Big Beatles Collector that he had all their albums still on the original Capitol labels which I envied. I told him about the Butcher cover and that a lot of people were peeling off the trunk cover and finding the Butcher cover which was worth about $100 back then. So he decided to try it. He steamed off the trunk cover only to find....cardboard. Needless to say, he wasn't happy. He still brings it up to me to this day. And he's still pissed.

Pretty much anything with the Three Stooges in it (especially Curly) is a classic. It's just another great success story of three guys whose future loked bleak but decided to make it a go of it alone and the rest, as they say, is history!! Thanks Eddie!!

I always heard about the Magical Mystery Tour party and that Lu Lu berated John but never knew why. I thought it was because he was drunk and making an ass of himself. I guess in a way he was. One question Eddie...who is the man on the left next to Ringo in the top picture. He is wearing a King's robe. He looks a little like George Martin but I don't think it's him. Any idea? Nice story. Thanks

Great story Eddie. I never knew that story about Elvis before. Shows you the upbringing he had. Here was a guy who grew up in Mississippi in the 30's, 40's and 50's and could have easily been a racist but yet his parents raised him the right way. Great story!!

I remember going to see YF as a 13 year old kid who on that day fell in love with Terri Garr forever. This movie was to me the quintessential Mel Brooks film. It has so many classic scenes in it along with actors that it's hard to find a more memorable movie. Thanks Eddie. Nice piece.

I actually bought a re-release 45 RPM of Rock Around The Clock back in 1974 when I was 14 after Happy Days came out. To this day I think it has one of the best guitar solos ever. It's still one of my favorite songs. Nice article Eddie.
