I don't even like his choice of cities, much less his movie selections. He includes Portland but doesn't include Baltimore (Diner, Hairspray)? And for Washington, he doesn't even mention A Few Good Men or No Way Out, both of which I'd re-watch way more than All the President's Men.
I wasn't sure why Mental Floss linked to this back in August (when I first read it) and am not sure why it's secondarily being linked from here now. It's not an article, but merely one of 14 answers to a Quora question. No citations or other markers to validate any of the statements made. Maybe it's all true or maybe not. Just don't get why, what is essentially the equivalent to making a comment here, is being treated like a well-researched article in some history periodical.
"I learned so much from getting lost when I was young. But I never got lost as often or as badly as my kids do. Maybe they'll learn even more!" Doesn't sound like you're giving them the chance. :)
Nope. You're the one mischaracterizing it. When jumptheshark.com used to actually be jumptheshark.com (before being sold the TV Guide), Jon Heim specifically described the term as when actors leave a show, couples get together, babies are born, new characters are added, very special episodes (Fonzie jumping the shark as part of the 3 part Happy Days arc), etc... The site used to be a bulletin board broken out by shows for people to discuss and vote when shows "jumped the shark". I don't think #4 and #5 fit, but the others do.
Plus, it doesn't take into account, the actual "old" stars' use of plastic surgery, et al. Who knows what Lea Thompson would look like if she aged naturally?
