The McDonalds near us had a weekend breakfast buffet for a while. All the Pizza Hut buffets in my area are gone now. Only one KFC had a lunch buffet near me. Alas, almost all of the KFCs in my area are gone now.
Stayed at a B&B in Nanaimo once upon a time. No mention from our hosts of this chocolaty Nanaimo bar treat that was linked in the story. Greedy Canadians!
I remember going to LA in 1980 and visiting the set of General Hospital so my Dad could meet up with some of his old co-workers from his CBS days. My two most vivid recollections were 1) the set was just a big 'ol dank warehouse, and 2) the actors loved watching themselves on TV.
The article was an opinion piece written by Michael Guillen.
"Michael Guillen was born in East Los Angeles, earned his BS from UCLA and his MS and PhD from Cornell University in physics, mathematics and astronomy. For eight years he was an award-winning physics instructor at Harvard University. For fourteen years he was the Emmy-award-winning science correspondent for ABC News, appearing regularly on 'Good Morning America,' '20/20,' 'Nightline,' and 'World News Tonight.' Dr. Guillen is the host of the History Channel series, 'Where Did It Come From?' and producer of the award-winning family movie, 'LITTLE RED WAGON.' He's currently writing a book for Harper Collins on science and the Bible."
So it sounds like he's part of the scientific community you'd like to trust.
I'm sorry, but dd/mm/yyyy is worse than mm/dd/yyyy. I actually like the Chinese using yyyy/mm/dd the best. Go from the most broad to the most specific. It's like saying, "Are you free on the 6th of March?" instead of saying, "Are you free on March 6th?"
I remember the big uproar over this getting built and ruining the bucolic nature of the area around the Bull Run battlefield park. Don Henley, on the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over tour, made a point to pick a cause to champion at every tour stop. He chose Disney America for the Washington DC leg. I vividly remember him stating his case and summarily getting booed. Visibly taken aback at the reaction, he responded with, "And now for a song that has nothing to do with this." Funny this is, with the DC suburban boom swallowing up Haymarket, it's as crowded today as anything people were forewarning about if Disney had come.
That's nuttin'! Fairfax County is planning on a year-round ski slope on a landfill. https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicaffairs/fairfax-peak-one-worlds-longest-indoor-ski-slopes-may-be-built-fairfax-countys-i-95-landfill
