Nice. This old baseball fan loves the thought about the picnic atmosphere. The players like Mays and Kaline show their true love for the game that brought them fame and us so much pleasure.
I'd show my high school students stuff like that when they whined about having to "work so hard" at school. I'd ask them how they'd like doing that for 14-16 hours a day.
I had many baseball cards, including rookie year cards for the likes of Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle. I also had an autographed set of photos of the 1949 NY Yankees. I'm certain that with them were at least a couple issues of the original Mad comics. I left them at home when I went off to work after college. My parents moved around that time and the collection disappeared. I always believe that the movers stole them or even possibly my Mother thinking I had no use for them gave them away. Sigh. I bet others have had similar experiences.
Down here we have a Winkler Road and a Winkler Avenue and they are not near each other. I finally figured out that Winkler ROAD is in the country and Winkler AVENUE is mostly in the city. We may ask ourselves a George Carlin-like question: why is there always a Main Street, but never a Main Road?
I saw the movie once years ago. OK, I saw some of it. I got bored after a few minutes and changed the channel. Seeing the You-Tube trailer was enough to get the pointlessness of it all.
I used to have a similar scarf and of course called it my Doctor Who scarf. I think my wife gave it away when we moved to Florida. I could have used it this morning. Tom Baker's role will always be identified by the scarf.
Close enough ?
