Funny history. I remember when I was younger they raced at Watkins Glen through the streets of town. After a few fatalities they built a real race track up on the hill outside of the village.

I guess we better change the names of some of our weekdays that are named after Nordic gods. A lot of folks already refer to Wednesday as "Hump Day" although I can't really see that on our calendars.
When I was younger I thought it would be cool if you could stand on either the north or south axis of the earth and spin around and around. Then I realized it would take 24 hours for one turn. Bubble burst.
Back in the day PTSD was probably best known as shell shock. I was in a VA hospital years ago and there were a couple older GI's in the mental ward from WWII who had never recovered. Jessss is correct to mention some similarity with horrible car wrecks. Any really disturbing event, fires, tornadoes, 9/11 will likely cause PTSD in some survivors. Sad.
My wife, a Canadian, slept our wedding night with a slice of wedding cake under her pillow for good luck. She must have been on to something as we will celebrate our 48th anniversary this August.
