Miike: I laughed. This former high school biology teacher (1963-1994) can appreciate the effort by those students and their instructors. I remember the enthusiasm of most of my own students back in those days. We did a lot of learning then, but nothing quite as wild as this.

So what was wrong with someone trying protect their family even with such a remote chance of survival. Sure, it's an easy target for jokes, but remember there are still some very sophisticated shelters for people like our President, Congress, and some other "important" folks.

I'm sort of with K!P and thinking someone has to be the vanguard of DNA and it might be us. Didn't Iosif Shklovsky or someone like him propose the same thing?

When I taught high school biology we would use planaria for study and experiments. Once when a student sliced a head in two, the tail formed into a head and the split head became a split tail. Very strange critters indeed!

MrsO and I get out ASAP. I hope the cat uses her cat doors. If I have time I'd grab my Mac Mini to save all the data and photos I have on it. Oh, and I'd probably grab my fire proof safe box. I really would not want to test it with my valuable documents.

An A- for that?? Elementary school kids can do better. Anyone remember "Hardware Wars"? Now that was a college film project worthy of an A grade.

RIP. My maternal grandfather was a combat surgeon in WW1. He was also an amateur photographer and took many pictures of the carnage. It's sad that it really was not the "war to end all wars."

Someone please explain why we can't do this to that mad man in Libya? And while we are at it, how is this different from the directive against assassination?
