Reminds me of a cracked.com article I read... hold on

Here you go!
It's interesting to try and look at movies from another perspective

"However, it does seem staged. They did not call out a mayday to the control tower."

Doesn't seem that staged to me. This aircraft was almost certainly in uncontrolled airspace, and when you lose your engine at this altitude sending a message is not a priority.

@ zaid:

protons and electrons are both subatomic particles, since they're the constituents of atoms.
But yes, protons are made up of even smaller particles called quarks (no strawberries though I'm afraid).

Anyway, I hope this JTEC thing really works, we need some new ideas! If super-soaker man can do it why can't we? ;)

Well I guess the point is to see whether it will work or not.
Sure it works on dogs and pigeons etc.. but on a human being who's conscious of the experiment (since he does it on himself).. I'm not completely sure.

That's an interesting experiment anyway, I want to try it myself now (except for the "wearing a stupid contraption on my head" bit).

I like this idea very much!
And it could only be stolen by someone with your name!

The thing is though, bikes have a certain shape for a reason, which is carrying loads. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to sit on these without breaking them (especially the one spelling Nina at the first link, where the front isn't connected to the back).

Anyway, it still works well as a piece of art.

Well I have a clue or two about aeronautics and I'd be very surprised if it did fly for more than say, 5 seconds. I doubt his extensive 6-month internet research has taught him much about stability, or for that matter aerodynamics... he seems to have made a roughly wing-shaped wing but it looks like he didn't bother that much about the tail. Planks with hinges won't do the trick I'm afraid.

Anyway, good luck to him! I just hope he doesn't test it by hurtling it off a cliff.

Yeah the REAL reasons in his own six-year-old spoiled brat mind. "noooo I don't wanna put my seat belt on mummy!"
Just f**king do it.

By the way I don't really think the argument "buses don't have seat belts so seat belts are unnecessary" is of the highest intelligence.

@Vonskippy: Well, if you can get your energy from a source that doesn't burn fossil fuels, then yes, there is a zero-emission car. (zero CO2 anyway..)
