That's quite disturbing, yet funny at the same time.
I haven't been this emotionally confused in a long time, thank you neatorama ;).

Yeaaah!
What a great idea that is.
I've always said: don't just let anyone measure stuff when they want to, there would be chaos. What we need is one government-authorized committee per thing to measure in the universe. And only when they're asked to by the government.
Also, don't let those "scientists" fool you with their statistical analysis and fancy "exponential growth" mumbo-jumbo! Everyone knows nature always behaves linearly. So be a real scientist: draw a straight line through a graph!
That's how science works, innit?

@halieus: You seem to be confusing evolution with speciation. Evolution is what allows the adaptation/variation you're talking about to happen.
Also, it doesn't happen in individuals, so feeding your cat milk is only going to give it diarrhea.

Neat video, but not quite space ;-)
Depending on the definition, this (104,000 ft) is between 20% and 40% of the way to space.
At that altitude, you still need to look up to see shooting stars, the atmosphere is thick enough to have slowed down the space shuttle from mach 25 to mach 8... Yes it is very high and you'd need a space suit to survive, but you can't really call it space.

@Jolly My bad, I'd never seen such a ratio of cooling towers to chimneys!
@kirsten There is no smear campaign against fossil fuels. There is only a simple fact: burning things that are made of carbon releases carbon dioxide. There isn't much anyone can do about that, it's simple chemistry.
Most people who want to be "green" also want to keep living in the 21st century, which means that they want their electricity to come from environmentally friendly sources.
The fact that a huge majority of the power is still coming from burning fossil fuels is precisely what they want to change, so I'm not sure that saying "almost none of your electricity is green" is going to change their mind about coal.

Chuck, I have a few questions:
How is non-fossil energy production pre-industrial, how is it going to halve your life expectancy, and why is "Climate Change" between quotes?

Neat idea.
It's a shame they made it look like a nuclear power plant though. People will be shaking their fists at the wrong buildings.

@Jolly Nah, I wouldn't either... I'm pretty sure climbing isn't really in the realm of what's possible to do with a wingsuit.

I was doubtful when I read the summary, but the account on his web page is pretty convincing.
He was apparently not new to the idea of converting 2CVs into other things (he made a boat out of another one before that), and he was going for a solitary raid in the desert, hence the water and spare parts. No welding was involved apparently, everything being held together by screws.
After he finished it, he was arrested for driving a non-conform vehicle and had to guide the police to the rest of his car to convince them of his story. The report written after the arrest (procès verbal) is on the site too (chameaudacier.free.fr/pv.jpg).
I don't think that someone would fake a story this thoroughly.

Is it just me or does the driver of the normal Jeep at 0:20 really do all he can to get stuck on the shallow hill?

All this technology, yet all I can think of is: what shape must your teeth be, so that after taking a bite off a sandwich it remains perfectly cut?

Maybe I'm particularly tolerant of buildings, but of the 21 pictures I've only seen maybe 2 or 3 that I find ugly (e.g. the Ponte City Apartments, 6th pic).
The rest of them range from alright to actually very nice. The Strata SE1 (7th picture) looks really good to me, I don't see what makes it ugly.

What made the alien scary in the first films is the very fact that we didn't see it (or at least not completely) until the very end.
Still, interesting behind-the-scenes footage.
