This poll is symptomatic of a change that has been going on in america for the last few decades. Humor, sound bites and belittling have taken the place of real discourse on issues. Politicians and media alike seldom analyze both sides of an issue. They mock and demean their opponents. I believe most americans form their opinions not based on any rational evaluation of the arguments but rather dependent upon the relative success of one side in making the other seem foolish or stupid. This represents a dumbing down of the population and more importantly of the electorate.
