This facility is local to my area in FL...they are a professional company with trained staff, and you can tour there in a zoo-style setting. You can even pay extra to get a close-up photography tour. So basically: they know what they're doing when it comes to their enclosure occupants. This isn't just a cage in some rich idiot's back yard. Look up "Big Cat Rescue."
John: you completely changed my mind. At first I was all "man there's going to be a bunch of softee anti-spanking hippies on these comments"...but honestly, you pointed out a true point. Why would she do the same thing she's trying to get her daughter to avoid?
tayatayataya: I am so terrified of having kids because of the fine line between being their friend/cool parent in an attempt to stay "in the loop" with them and know what's really going on with them instead of having them lie to me...I hope to really try to be a PARENT (not a friend) but at some point have the conversation with them in which I share some of my mistakes as a youth, and how I needed my parents to hear/understand me, and when they did, it really helped me. Hopefully that will let my kid know when they need someone to tell something to without judgement, to come my way. TERRIFYING!!!
I read somewhere that Daddy Long-Legs can't bite through the skin because their teeth aren't strong enough? Anyone else heard that? I'm really only freaked out by the idea of brown recluses and widows...for obvious reasons. I don't like the idea of my arm rotting off, etc...But I'd hold a tarantula. If it's a harmless creature, I'd pet it. :)
All he did was use the clone tool with varying paintbrush sizes atop some pretty crappy copy/paste shapes...pretty much the bottom rung of "photo manipulation" if you really want to call it that.
