Very interesting stories. Small correction from the THE SECURITAS DEPOT story - In total, investigators have arrested about 30 people in connection with the crime, including drivers, *face* police, a car dealer, a salesman, a roofer, and a hairdresser named Kim Shackleton. Probibly should be *fake*.

well, when a kid gets tested around the same age i was, you don't tell them their score. This leads them to think they are super awesome. This guy is obviously brilliant - i mean, just for what he is into and what he attempts. I think from this interview we can see that he has flaws. So brave of him to appear on "Obsessed". I recognized him from there when I saw him here, and a nice contrast in how they portay people on that show. Here is a man crippled by obsessions, yet he is one of the highest IQ in the world. Or here is a man who is the smartest man in the world, but is obsessed with his own mortatlity to the point he is not producing anything with his intellect. Makes you think. Glad I found this. Hair plugs look just as awesome on obsessed. Would have thought cheesy if I didn't know they were part of his disability where he can't accept his own aging. interesting.

I would like to retract that comment. Upon further research it looks like a very serious issue. Thanks for the wake up call.

lol - neck-weights. I call b.s. and have told the artist such. As if that much plastic could exist in one bird. That much plastic is more than their body mass. How does one bird survive like two bottle caps - let alone twenty - to be able to die with that much plastic in the same place? Very hard to belive, mis-informative, and hurting the cause (which sounds genuine). Bloody irresponsible.

I'd add Ghostbuster pack. Bubo (mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans), BladeRunner's gun, Hunter Seeker from Dune, Blade from Krull, Star Trek Phaser, Golden Gun? (man w golden gun), Alien's gun, Rocky's glove?, Odd Job's bowler from Goldfinger, The false grail from Indy?, Chainsaw Massacre, Judge Dredd's gun?, Dirty Harry's Magnum?, Fett's rifle?, Tron deadly disk, Phantasm sphere, and my favourite- that cattle killing weapon from No country for old men - the captive bolt pistol.

I am green, but can't stand it when people get their facts wrong. I believe the tar sands only produces 80kg of Co2 per barrel of oil. Even 85.6 kg Co2 equivalent/barrel. Or something more reasonable like that.

Good postings on this.
What would happen if the U.S Dollar wasn't tied to the value of barrels of oil?
I have heard that if China calls in their debt, that would be it for the Americans.
Economic crisis, well, perhaps this is just the begining of the end of an empire. My advise, start practicing your Mandarin/Cantonese

I think that owning is way better than renting. Owning a home is also better than any stocks I have. If you think about it, as a home owner, what investment has earned the most return in the last year? Your house. At least in our (Canadaian) market. I recently optioned to purchase a house, and stand to make an 80% return on investment. I don't see many stocks paying out that kind of return. Perhaps the article is slanted to persuade people to return to stock buying?
I thank Neatorama for that gem of information in an article lately, "Show me the paper". The demand for your original Mortgage document in the face of foreclosure. Many U.S. Mortgages were bundled and sold as investments that the original document is long since lost. If you can't prove title, you can't evict. Could you imagine a law passing that removes this 'loophole' surrounding the sacred Mortgage document? I sure hope not.
Perhaps it really is time for the American Empire to collapse. The Ottoman Empire collapsed, the British Empire, the Indian Empire, and the Roman Empire. Empires don't work.

Interesting post. Noticed one error:
Humbert tries to drug the Lolita to have his way with her, but she instead seduces him.
the Lolita? Perhaps it is "the" as he later wrote a book about her. =)

I think that he shouldn't have given away his money. There was a post on Neatorama at one time about a man who lived with no possessions. He was a billionaire and he strived to live without owning anything. I think he rented cars, lived in hotels, and did donate a ton.
I wonder, though, how this guy would be able to afford to do any 'good works' in the future without the means to support himself, how can he give anything to chairty in the future?
