It should be noted that the nitrogen in pigeon poo acts as a sort of gunpowder, and pigeons were kept by the wealthy to collect quantities of the material. What you're looking at here is a small munitions factory. Seriously.
The Federation doesn't use money, but plenty of other cultures in the ST universe do, including non-Federation earthlings. The implication is that non-Federation Earthlings still require money. I believe that the Citizens (soldiers) in Starship Troopers have a similar system to the Federation, while non-Citizens still deal in a credit based economy.
Hooray for Indie filmmakers -- except that they need to learn their stagelines. When covering a scene, it's jarring for two people who're supposed to be talking to each other to be both looking right-to-left in their individual shots. It's the most basic of cinematic grammar, folks. And it's not rocket science. WATCH THOSE STAGELINES! (And while you're at it, watch Dellamorte Dellamore, which is the original title of Cemetery Man).
This makes me as mad as Counties charging for the reclamation and use of captured runoff rainwater. Someone said it earlier, "No good deed goes unpunished."
Not to be the cinema police or anything, but a "pan down" is more accurately called a "tilt." A pan is used to describe horizontal motion from a fixed axis, while a tilt is used to describe vertical motion from a fixed axis.
While it IS possible to perform a pan while the camera is in motion, that isn't the case in this shot (sometimes, as in Hitchcock's Rear Window, zooms and tracking shots are combined to create a radical shift in the depth of field of a shot).
The beginning of the shot is a "zoom," in which the optics create the illusion of pulling back, not to be confused with a "tracking" shot, in which the camera actually does physically pull back, push forward, or travel sideways (usually on dolly track).
Public schools currently have longer terms than private schools, which not only have more vacations but also provide an arguably better education. Maybe trimming an hour a day would be a good idea as well. That would allow kids to get afternoon jobs, which would also help the economy. Schools are terribly inefficient organizations with a tremendous amount of waste.
This could also have quite a bit to do with a red band trailer being released on the internet -- which depending on the studios agreement with the MPAA CARA ratings board could be in direct violation of MPAA guidelines. Studios are often accused by the MPAA of releasing unrated materials virally, and this can cause repercussions when they go in to get the actual film rated.
