The Other Parker's Comments
Isn't this a "smoke engine?" Where's the steam?

Just saw Quantum last night, and The Incredibles is one of my all-time favorites. I liked the mashup but I was a bit disappointed to hear the same voices coming out of multiple people's mouths. *shrug*

Here in Albuquerque, Route 66 has become Central Avenue, one of the main roads through town. I live a couple blocks from there. I'm a young'un who didn't show up on the scene until the year they decommissioned the highway, but I still appreciate driving along it and seeing the old sights. Though there's plenty of activity in Albuquerque, much of it moved to other parts of town. Nowadays most of the old motels and diners sit vacant, their Googie facades faded and vandalized, their neon lights switched off. It's a bit sad. It makes me wonder what condition our modern structures will be in, in fifty years.

I imagine this may have been like a gambling addiction: it started out fun, but as each additional procedure left her looking less beautiful, she told herself "just one more" to correct the damage. Maybe she was hoping she would "hit the jackpot" and finally fix all the problems caused by the earlier operations, and then finally quit. But with the element of body dysmorphic disorder, she would never be satisfied enough, just like the compulsive gambler is never content with winnings because something better might be around the corner.
I'm speculating, but I suspect that's more or less how her thought process went. She probably feels like she needs an operation now more than ever, even if she knows on a medical level what it will do to her.

It looks cool, but I bet it's quite a safety hazard. I think I'd be pretty scared to use it!

Nice. I was wondering what to do with my extra Gandhi.

That's one of the most terrifying YouTube videos I've seen in a while. I thought it must for sure be a Halloween hoax or something, but Wikipedia has an article on these creatures. They seriously look like evil plotting aliens, a little like the ones in Independence Day. I had no idea there were things like this living on Earth!

Actually Jerry Ayers' pumpkin-carving record was 1 minute 37 seconds. Still crazy fast though!

That's pretty amazing. Who would have imagined human tissue living for so long?

This scofflaw is a danger to society with her immoral unlawful bedroom! How many people has she hurt already? Something must be done to stop her criminal rampage before she strikes again!! Won't somebody please think of the CHILDREN?!?

I have some 3D glasses here (don't ask me why) and the effect doesn't really work on this image like it was intended. Probably for the reason Tom Finnigan pointed out?

Apart from one shot that showed people milling about in the background, this was great. I laughed out loud at the dubbing of Will Smith's voice over Macaulay Culkin's dialogue. And even harder at Daniel Stern "roaring." Great mashup!

I'm really surprised at the lack of respect for property here. Sure, materialism is bad. But advertisers pay for ads. I am not justified in spray-painting a message on the front of your house, even if it's a good message, and even if I make it look nice. If you want to make a statement, get permission to use the property you want to make it on. The end does not justify the means.

If this issue isn't worth putting your foot down, what is? What will it take for you to say "okay, enough is enough, I want my freedom back"? And how do you know it won't be too late by then? It's like the frog being slowly boiled alive: the gradual increase in temperature is bearable enough, but by the time the water does become too hot, you're dead. Should've jumped out while you had the chance.
