Crisps - thin slices of potato fried in oil until crisp right through with no discernable moisture. Chips - thick batons of potato fried in oil but retaining a moist centre. French Fries - thin batons of potato unlike anything a proper Englishman would eat - often served in burger joints.
Dunno about iPhones, but I can't get those touch-sensitive hand driers in the loo to work when my hands are wet. Perhaps I have a naturally low electrical field or capacitance or whatever. A dry elbow sometimes does it, but the rest of the time I just have to do without.
