Actually, the kids aren't allowed to watch TV. They have videos that they'll watch occasionally, but TV is definitely not raising them.
I have seen the show a few times, and while it's not a choice I'd make (and certainly not the religious aspect since I'm atheist), the kids seem intelligent, well-adjusted, and loved....and a few of them even have snarky senses of humor that would fit right in here.
Some of you are acting like everyone is soon going to be having this many kids. Would it be bad if everyone in the world decided to have 19 kids? Yes. However, that's clearly not the case. The scads of people who have decided to NOT have kids offset the few that decide to have a dozen.
