Stonehenge: The World's Most Disappointing Place of Interest

We were in London on business. We rented a car JUST to go see Stonehenge. We drove out to Salisbury. What a letdown! Continued on to Bath - much, much better place to visit.

In failed states/economies - not unusual to find in the former Soviet Union - locals often take advantage of the existing rail infrastructure with their own inexpensive rail-enabled vehicles, operating safely outside the insufficient schedules of the official state railways.

A better-known example of this is in Cambodia with a number of tiny trains known as the Bamboo Railway. A BBC news story about Cambodian bamboo trains made the rounds through "cool stuff on the net" blogs perhaps 3 or 4 months ago.

The Cynthia McKinney hair smear was deployed by right-wing blogging fascists like Michelle Malkin to help spread the meme that "Cynthia McKinney is a krazy nigga!"

McKinney's "crime" was borne of a misunderstanding and was complicated by racial tensions. Ultimately she was exonerated for the incident.

The justice in resolving the McKinney incident apparently wasn't enough for Malkin and her band of bigoted wingnuts. To this day any unflattering photo of McKinney - hair askew, eyes bloodshot or half-closed, mouth open, etc. - are proudly posted on right-wing websites to remind their readers that they are victims of a system that would allow such a woman to work in the legislature.

Several times I've heard about a Chinese optimum-age-for-mate formula:

Take the man's age, divide by half then add 7.

So a 40 year old guy should seek out a 27 year old woman.

A 105 year old guy should seek out a 59.5 year old woman.

This is an old one - perhaps 5 years old. The ad was in a Toronto newspaper. I happened to be in Toronto on business the day the ad came out... I can remember a lively discussion in the hotel's restaurant that morning about job prospect for the guy. Everybody seemed to be on his side.
