Oddly enough, the English verb "to fard" means "to apply make-up." I believe there was some sort of joke to that effect, where you start saying how you could spot people farding in their cars on the way to work. "How could you tell?" "It was pretty obvious by how their faces changed."
A little known fact about #16: the chieftains would often send a messenger ahead of them who would knock on the door and, when the victim opened it, would happily announce, "You've got blackmail!"
