a wonderful idea.
i am a little confused though. i ordered two items. in the mail i got three. a lil' mental floss book, a laser pen, and a LED pig keychain light (which is awesome but don't work)
i guess im a tad disappointed, as the stipulation was that each item would be at least $9.95 and i don't think these guys quite make the cut (the book actually has a lower price printed on it)
that being said, the fun of the game, and the knowledge that i am supporting one of my favorite sites makes the difference.

Ahh, just the beginning of a long parade of genius. Hertzfeldt is currently wrapping up a 16 city tour of his most-bar-raising film to date. The follow up to the beautiful, gut-wrenching “Everything Will Be OK’’, “I am So Proud of You’’ is flat out overwhelming. It is an all you can eat buffet to fill the void of your existential crisis. Amazingly complex with an appearance of such simplicity, you will be stunned at how affected you can be by the story of stick figures.
If that’s not enough, Don is in person at each show.

also he said that he is in fact working on a tv show.

I have a novel idea. instead of flapping your gums and wasting angry hot breath about talking points that you have not looked into, turn of your television and go over the facts. take the time to make decissions for yourself based on what each candidate has laid out as his plan. i thought this was the idea behind voting. i guess i'd neglected the clearly more important chess beating pissing contest or fractured facts and altered quotes.

Remember when differences in opinion lead to discussion and not blind anger with insults devoid of facts?
I am very pleased Obama secured the nomination. I look forward to debates between the two candidates and can only hope people will look at each of them objectively.
In some defense for the man I voted for:
It is true, Obama's speeches lack in the specifics of his policy and legislation ideas. They wouldn't be nearly as effective if he had to spell every bit out. However, if you were to TAKE THE TIME TO RESEARCH, you could find out specifically what his plans are on his website. You would also find that he has much more detail than McCain does or Hillary did. Additionally, after the embarrassing speeches of our former leader, wouldn't eloquence be a big positive in improving our reputation globally?
I am also thrilled, that Obama immediately called for the Democratic Party to put an end to accepting funds from lobbyists and special interest groups. McCain made a similar effort for just his campaign and due to it he's lost a lot of support. I do not agree with McCain's views, but I am impressed at his attempts at cleaning up his act (even if they're for backwards reasons). I believe this has been Obama's biggest strength already. He has cleaned up the election process by playing nice. Those who attack him have come off looking worse than the negative image they attempted to project. Perhaps the whole idea of politics is changing as our society becomes more transparent and information more available.
Doubtful, but I do have HOPE.

Yes,
While there were errors with his film he completely raised awareness to a new level. As others have pointed out. However, this has been one of Gore's primary objectives for most of his political career. Which he pats himself on the back for over and over again in the film.
I did not vote for Gore, (I won't say who) as I began to doubt him during his crumbling stature through through the debates. However I absolutely would have, had I known more of him. There is an absolutely wonderful short documentary on Gore and his family that Spike Jonze made and never officially released. These 13 minutes could have meant a different world had he'd done differently. As is, I believe it is only available on McSweeny's 'Wholphin' DVD magazine. (worth it in itself)
The Doc entails Spike coming to Gore's home and then following him to North Carolina for a weekend family vacation, in which we see the former Vice President body surfing. It's an intimite and humanizing view of a man who was ruined by standing still. I recomend to anyone who took the time to comment here, especially those who voted no with generic and hallow statements indicating why.

Amazing stuff.
Bob Cassilly, a classically trained sculptor and serial entrepreneur does similar junk sculptures that you can climb through in (and outside of) an old warehouse.
If ever in St. Louis, it's one of the best things we have to offer.

Two notable mid-western non-mentioneds:
The St. Louis City Museum is a mix of children's playground, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. Complete with an outdoor 50ft "jungle gym" made from trolley's, buses, planes and more, with a heap of salvaged architectural pieces from St. Louis past.
http://citymuseum.org/
In Chicago there is the International Museum of Surgical Sciences which, just as it says, features exhibits from around the world that trace the fascinating story of surgery's development through the ages.
Creepy
