That paintball gun one was funny as hell, but wouldn't the thief just run around behind it and steal the laptop? :P

I will say that a lot of those security methods were both innovative and amusing!

When I was a little kid, I had a friend who used to run up behind trucks and inhale deeply when they accelerated away.

I thought it was weird as hell, but I guess a lot of people like that smell. :)

My personal top two smells are probably fresh cut grass and the air after a rain storm.

I think the description of what happens when you are in the vacuum of space was off. Here is what NASA has to say about the topic.

Basically your skin seems to keep your blood and urine from boiling. After about 15 seconds you pass out from lack of oxygen. A couple minutes later, you are most likely dead.

It sounds like the author's point isn't to point out how terrible science fiction is for not portraying everything right, but is trying to just make people aware of certain facts. I do believe that some of these things could be incorporated into movies without making them "boring". Number 3 and number 2 are good exmaples.

Whoa, those dogs went nuts. It really makes you see them in a completely different light. Dogs are not just dumb animals who are attached to whoever is currently feeding them. Even almost a year apart they will distinctly remember a person.

Great link Neatorama.

I think there is a perception among many Americans that less sleep translates into someone who is harder working and more dedicated to their job.

However I believe the reasons behind not getting enough sleep may have more to do with late night TV (or surfing neatorma), than actual spending more time at work.

A lot of us underestimate how much better we can preform on our jobs and in school after getting a good night's sleep. Our body seems to trick us sometimes into thinking we are fine when in fact our brains aren't working at 100%.

That said, the "right amount of sleep seems to be different for everyone and can often change from day to day. Sometimes I wake up feeling refreshed after 5 or 6 hours, but the next day I'll probably need 8.
