Interesting definitions of respect there - 'I respect their aberrated ways'. Cultural relativism is probably the most insulting and patronising take of all. It's like saying 'you're rubbish but then you don't know any better so hey'.

As for being liberated, if Western nations had invaded Afghanistan to 'liberate' child brides rather than for economic and politically strategic reasons, I'd have more respect. And when are 'we' going to liberate the women of America from the compulsion to cut up their bodies in the name of beauty/finding a boyfriend? Economic liberalisation and individualism is hardly a blueprint for social conscience and liberty. It's pathetic.
