I've only been to France once (twice if you count a panicked run through de Gaul airport) and don't remember anyone being really rude.

Granted I was with my sister who trotted out some pretty terrible French. And no mater what I just keep on smiling and laughing.

That being written the people in the countryside were nicer, but no one was really rude.

Sorry, why would I confront this person?

Were they going to hurt the other person? I read it as the person had left the room, why would I risk a possible violent encounter when I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind?

This lady does it for 4-6 on $40/month. She's probably eat like a king with 2 people for $30/month.

Food isn't expensive in this country. If you want to eat healthily but are poor you can do so, it just takes some thought and preparation.

And when it comes time for that oppressive government’s foot soldiers to go in and take care of that insurrection, they’re going to do a whole lot more soul searching when it comes to shooting and killing their armed countrymen in self-defense instead of simply arresting unarmed ones.

I've always wondered just how they'd disarm everyone. The last time I checked the majority of our military comes from the so called Red States. So in the words of my Greek ancestors, "come and take them." The boys from Tennessee and Texas aren't going to turn their weapons on their home towns.

I honestly believe it would precipitate a civil war. Only this time the North has no manufacturing ability and few people willing to serve in the military. For anyone blithely suggesting we'd use nuclear weapons on our own citizens I'll remind you that we haven't used nuclear weapons on anyone in 60 years, do you really think we'd start on our own soil?

I believe in the 2A because we have the right to unmake our government if we so chose. Iraq and Afghanistan has shown that a small force can fight a successful and prolonged war against a larger power with simple weapons.

I was popping over to bring up what Cristina already wrote.

I'm of Greek decent (raised Greek Orthodox) and these things depend on who you ask. There was no option in giving your boys to be Janissaries for the Turks. It also made occupied countries unwilling to take up arms against their occupiers because you would be fighting your own children. So Vlad was a hostage/"soldier" for the very people who had invaded his country.

Vlad is much loved by the people over in Romania. He was/is seen as their deliver.

On the other hand the Russians are pretty fond of Igor the Terrible.
