I rarely play the role of a nit-picker. That being said, conspiracy theorists and cryptozoologists are not the same. Although, I am sure there is a lot of overlap.
There are many, many, many supposed cryptids in the world. Besides those listed above there is the Mongolian Death Worm, Mokele-Mbembe and the Thunderbird for highly discussed cryptids. There are also several supposedly unique cases of ape type men. Big Foot, the Skunk Ape, the Minnesota Iceman, and more! The Wendigo is sometimes thought of being like the other "Big Foots" but the supposed origins actually seem to consider it more a combination of werewolf, troll and ape.

I'd love to do something like this myself.....if only I could do it in about 5 minutes.....and without planning it.

I have absolutely no problem with PETA running this campaign. I wish everything they did was like this. Nobody will be "changed" by this campaign and, if I'm right, this is costing a decent amount of money.
I think another good campaign would be to take their money, fold it into origami animals and send it in out to people they want to "change" Heck, I would take a couple just for myself!

If you have the computer-savy to do it, opensource is the way to go.
One of the things that people never seem to bring up is the fact that Mac doesn't make hard-core servers like the kind businesses would need. When has anyone ever walked into a server room o a major business and seen towers and racks of Macs? If Mac did make a competitive server and started getting it out there, maybe they could get the sales like Windows does.

While I am not saying I think it is healthy to "rent" family members, I do think there is an aspect to this that hasn't been mentioned (at least in the comments.) Japan is a society that is still run heavily by males. The father is the head of the household in many respects and lives are run accordingly. The culture is just now socially accepting women to divorce their husbands for infidelity, when twenty years ago it would have been a scandal.
It doesn't surprise me that in a society that is so male-dominate mothers would find comfort in having even a fake father figure around. As it is mentioned, there are many social instances that are generally handled by the male of the house. If you have noisy neighbors and want someone to handle the confrontation for you, is it much different than hiring someone to take care of your pesky weeds?
Again, I would not personally ever see a need for such a service. But, the family dynamics are different in Japan than they are in Canada, the US and Britain (Which is where I assume most neatorama posters come from.)

There are other instances of this happening. Hitting the bullets like this doesn't usually cause a discharge that could injure anyone....but it can happen!!
As to why he is doing this? Some places buy used shell casings. They can reload and resell them with less overhead. It's possible the guy got ahold of some free bullets and wanted to make a little side money.
Or, maybe he's an idiot.

Myself, friends and family who all attended (and are attending) public schools in California have often complained of how slow-paced the classes are.
I can appreciate trying to teach to the lowest of the students, I can. You want to see success as a teacher....especially as it reflects back on you. But there are some people who just don't care about learning or passing. Taking a week off and having to cram more teaching in will not harm the students who pay even half attention.
Teachers in California also make plenty of money....especially considering how poorly educated people end up out of school
I would LOVE to have a moderately paid job with 3+ months of vacation, weekends off and no chances of being responsible if the product of my work fails. (Once I get tenure, that is.)

I know my husband has heard a good number of those. He also has problems that can be solved by turning on the monitor, wiggling the mouse and having the computer plugged in.

Every time something gets put through the government that allows them more power, I cringe. Every time the government uses taxpayer money for something that the government should not be involved with, I cringe.
I cringe a lot.

It looks like something you would use for climbing up a tree. Stick the blade in the trunk and use the foothold to support yourself. If not a tree, an electric pole?

I'll make sure that next time I want to discriminate against someone, that I first donate a lot of money to a good charity.
"I don't support any organization that gives up its beliefs and morals to bow to political correctness."
But, would you support an organization that gives up its beliefs and morals at all? The Boyscouts didn't disallow gay scouts or leaders until the 1990's. Nor did they bar athiests.
The Boy Scouts have a lot to offer as an organization. They provide a service that is very much needed in our society and I can't imagine what would lose if they were to go away. That's why it saddens me even more that some people are not allowed to join and participate in, what could be, a very amazing group. I wish the Boy Scouts would look more to what the Girl Scouts have been doing.
