Most charities are inefficient and only benefit those that run them. This is one of the shortest ways to actually get the exact opposite of your desired effect; helping those in need. If he really wanted to help those in need, he should have used his wealth to invest in productive assets in those regions which would create self sufficiency and jobs for those in need. What he has done is given to those that don't deserve it and given authority for distributing those funds to those that don't know how to manage it. I can appreciate the concept of a simple life, but he needn't give it all away to useless and ineffective charities to do good.
