Little more to Mark's posting. American sources (howstuffworks for example) cite that cholesterol and saturated fats both increase the level of blood cholesterol and thus increase the risk of blood and heart disease. So does cigarette smoking, big tummy and too little excercise. Here in Finland, it is publicly instructed to avoid animal-based fats if you belong to the high-risk group (several risk factors).
