The folks from roanoke hooked up with the equally mysterious Cahokians from the midwest. they ultimately settled in what is know known as Roswell, New Mexico
The rudeness of french waiters, especially in Paris, is a common topic among Parisians themselves. Part of it of course is that the "tip" is automatically included, but it was explained to me that service-type jobs in France carry a stigma. Unlike the US where most people at some point, particularly in youth, had a service-type job, I was told then French have deep feelings of resentment because of the perceived stigma of servility.
BY the way, this seething hostility is in 4 star establishments (although a bit more restrained) as well as local bistros. If you get away from Paris, the service becomes a bit more gracious.
This dubious claim about Swedish volunteerism is based on a single study by simeplace called Ersta Sköndal University College. What was the sameple size and protocols? What is the definition of volunteering? I question the statistical validity of this silly and self-justifying claim. Nevertheless, despsite my skepticism I remain willing to volunteer my services to the Swedish Bikini Team.
The only thought this inane billboard provokes is "exactly what sort of cleric feels the need to 'lampoon' (or outright insult)the beliefs of his own religion?
I am not desperate, but there are a lot of things I would be willing to do for $30 of chips--especially if I had an ample quantity of beer to wash it down.
This particular conclusion on Eastern European Jews may be weak, but the general premise that there is a variation among racial groups in terms of intelligence would seem almost certainly true. There are physical variations among racial groups in terms of height, etc. that are easily measured and uncontroversial. What are the odds that each racial group developed an identical gene pool for intellectual traits when there is measurable variation in some many other traits?
The problem with discussing variations in intelligence is (i) the difficulty of agreeing on what it is and how to measure it and (ii) the profound discomfort on the part of so many (even people who call themselves genetic "scientists") in even discussing the concept. In terms of the development of scienticfic advances in this area, the latter seems to me the bigger problem.
1. Houses produce lousy returns, while stocks produce good ones NOT A VERY TIMELY OBSERVATION 2. House prices have further to fall. STOCKS CAN AND DO FALL TO ZERO. THAT IS VERY RARE FOR REAL ESTATE. 3.Many houses for sale today seem designed to waste money. ugh--companies too--and as a shareholder you have almost no control ofer it 4. I was detained for about an hour in Toronto airport about 5 years ago on a business trip. After a thorough search and questioning, I asked why I had been detained. I was told that I didnt respond quickly enough to their routine questions. --We're even now Canada.
